October 2019: WIP2 Edition

Tetchi’s thoughts and ramblings for October 2019. The Leafs sucking, Thanksgiving famjams, and This Changes Everything again.

What happened

In October the long-awaited NHL season started again, but it was a rough month for my beloved Maple Leafs. It was a month full of horrible starts, blown leads, and disappointing performances by our superstars. It’s incredibly puzzling because the team looks so good on paper, yet seem to play like a bottom-feeding team. I hope they turn things around because at this rate, they’ll be lucky if they get a wildcard spot.

What the fuck is wrong with this team

On Thanksgiving weekend my parents came down for a visit, and they were stoked to see Kylea’s embiggening belly. We had a nice dinner together and woke up early the next morning to watch Japan beat Scotland at the Rugby World Cup.

Early morning rugby watching with pops.

We also went for a hike up the Mount Royal. The temperature was perfect and the fall foliage was absolutely beautiful.

We also went for our second ultrasound for the baby, where we learned that it’s going to be a boy! We now have the difficult task of coming up with a nice boy name. We had a bunch of good ones lined up for a girl, but we’ve got to toss those on the back burner for now 😅.

What I read I’m reading

I’m still reading This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. The Climate by Naomi Klein. It’s freaking long! It’s an amazing read though, and I’ve already learned so much about climate change and the companies that are trying to bury climate activists. I plan on picking up her latest book On Fire: The (Burning) Case for a Green New Deal right after I finish this one.
